“We give thanks to you, O God; we give thanks, for your name is near. We recount your wondrous deeds.”
Psalm 75:1 ESV
Thank you, Lord, that Your name is near. We talk a lot about the goodness of Your name. That Your name is holy. That your name is majestic in all the earth.
But it is also near.
Mountains resound and the seas will roar at the sound of Your name. It is a strong tower (Pr 18:10). It will endure forever (Psalm 135:13).
But it is also near.
Your name reaches to the ends of the earth (Ps 48:10). Its renown is the desire of my heart (Isaiah 26:8). It is exalted above all things (Psalm 138:2).
But it is also near.
I praise you for your immediateness, o God. You are near to the broken-hearted (Psalm 34:18). You are near, and all your commandments are true (Psalm 119:150). You are near to all who cry out to you (Psalm 148:18)
Your name is above all names. But it is nearer than any name. It is exalted in praise. It is whispered in prayer. It is shouted in triumph. It is cried out in pain. It brings down the mighty. It lifts up the lowly.
How majestic is your name in all the earth!
How intimate is your name within my heart.

I read five Psalms first thing every morning. That way, I can read through the entire book of Psalms every month. Each day, I try to pray through one of my daily Psalms, using a method Donald Whitney teaches in his book, Praying the Bible
